As a French woman with a passion for all things culinary, I was thrilled to visit Graz, Austria’s charming second city and its culinary capital. With its vibrant food scene, rich history, and stylish ambiance, Graz offers a feast for the senses that any foodie would adore.
Stepping into Graz felt like entering a fairytale. The city’s well-preserved medieval architecture and the stunning Graz Schlossberg provide a picturesque backdrop for my culinary adventure. As I strolled through the cobblestone streets, I marveled at the blend of old-world charm and modern flair that defines this city.
My first stop was the Graz Farmers’ Market at Lendplatz. Overflowing with fresh produce, artisanal cheeses, and local meats, the market buzzed with energy. I sampled some delightful pumpkin seed oil—a specialty of Styria—and paired it with fresh bread. The flavors were simply divine!
Next, I couldn’t resist visiting the Kunsthaus Graz, not just for its contemporary art but also for its fantastic café. I indulged in a delicious slice of Steirische Käferbohnen salad, featuring local beans and vibrant vegetables. The atmosphere was chic, perfectly complementing my love for fashion and design.
No culinary journey is complete without dessert! I made my way to the renowned Eis Greissler, where the ice cream is crafted from organic ingredients. The unique flavors—like pumpkin seed and lavender—left me speechless. I savored each scoop, enjoying the fusion of creativity and tradition.
As the sun set, I found a cozy wine bar in the historic Old Town. Sipping on a glass of local Schilcher wine, I took in the charming ambiance, surrounded by twinkling lights and the laughter of fellow travelers. Graz truly comes alive at night, blending culinary experiences with vibrant social life.
Graz has captured my heart not only with its delicious offerings but also with its rich history and stylish vibe. Whether you’re wandering through its picturesque streets or indulging in local delicacies, Graz invites you to savor every moment. This city is a culinary haven that I can’t wait to explore again. Until next time, Graz!
